Starwire names David J . Jaworski as President/CEO
First Executive to Win the "Microsoft Chairman Award for Excellence" Accepts CEO Position
- - HAYWARD, Calif., June 13, 2001Starwire Corporationä, a Web-based network service provider, today announced that it has named David J. Jaworski as its new president and chief executive officer. Jaworski brings more than twenty years of business leadership in technology and sales to Starwire and is positioned to lead the company to further success. Jaworski joined the company in March 2001 as vice president of sales and marketing. He will also serve on Starwires Board of Directors.

Previously, Jaworski served as the Senior Vice President and General Manager of Gaylord Digital. He has also served as CEO and Founder of Provident Ventures and Vice President of Sales for Arabesque Software. From 1985-1993, Jaworski worked at Microsoft where he began as one of the first employees of Microsoft Canada and aided the initial start-up of the Canadian operations. After being promoted to the U.S. Microsoft headquarters, where he was instrumental in the organizational development of Microsofts sales training structure, he completed his career at Microsoft as the General Manager of Microsoft University where he turned this P&L operation into the #1 performer in the U.S. Division.
Jaworski was the first ever recipient of the Chairmans Award For Excellence from Microsofts Bill Gates. This annual award is given to the one individual in all of Microsofts international operations who exemplifies the Microsoft standards for excellence in all areas of business.
David Davenport, Jaworskis predecessor, remains involved with Starwire as a member of its Board of Advisors. In addition, he will serve as a research fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University.
